A payslip is a contract printed on one page. Banks, landlords, visa officers — they all read the same regions in the same order: who you are, who paid you, what they paid, what came off, what's left, who signed it. The studio composes each region with the field labels third parties expect, in the order they expect them.
The band at the top of the page. Carries the employer's legal name, registration ID, address, and contact. The studio applies the brand pack here — logo, brand colour, watermark — so the slip reads as official from the first glance.

The template gallery
Different recipients scan differently. A bank's loan officer wants the net-pay number visible from a metre away. A landlord wants the parties block and the YTD column. An overseas visa officer wants a stripped, official-looking sheet with the seal up top. Switch templates without re-entering any data — the same engine renders into all three.
Earnings down the left, deductions down the right, totals stacked at the bottom. Reads like a typical Indian-HR-team stub — banks and rental agents recognise it instantly. The format that needs the fewest follow-up questions.

The brand pack
The brand pack is the chrome — the small set of decisions that distinguishes "Fyboard's payslip" from "a payslip". Logo, brand colour, watermark, footer artwork — all four configurable in one screen, applied across every stub the studio generates for that employer. Set once. Forget.
PNG or SVG, rendered in the letterhead band at 32px height. Scales without blurring; transparent backgrounds preserved so it sits naturally on the brand-colour strip.
A single accent colour. Applied to the letterhead band, the net-pay highlight, and the totals row. Picked from a palette or pasted as a hex — the studio adjusts contrast on text overlays automatically.
Optional behind-the-table image at low opacity. Used by employers who want the company seal subtly visible across the entire page — common in regulated industries (banking, pharma, insurance).
Custom footer text or an image strip. Often used for the compliance notice ("Computer-generated — no signature required"), the support email, or a legal disclaimer. Anchors to the bottom of every page.
The PDF specs
A PDF isn't just an image of a page — it's a structured document with embedded fonts, searchable text, signed metadata, and an optional password seal. The studio writes all of it correctly so the file behaves the same whether it's opened in Preview, Adobe Acrobat, or a bank's compliance portal that's three years out of date.
Standard A4. Prints cleanly on any office printer worldwide. Multi-employee stubs auto-paginate — header repeats on every page, page numbering anchors at the bottom.
Body text, mono labels, serif headings — all embedded in the PDF as font subsets. The file renders identically on any machine, with or without the source fonts installed.
Every figure, every label, every line is real text — not an image of text. Recipients can copy-paste figures into their own systems; compliance portals can extract the net pay without OCR.
PDF metadata is filled in with the stub period, employer name, and document ID. Useful for archival systems that index by metadata before they open the file.
Toggle on, and the PDF ships password-protected with AES-256 encryption. The standard convention — employee DOB or PAN suffix — is suggested but you can pick any string.
A single-employee stub with logo + watermark lands at 40–80 KB. Light enough to email as an attachment without compression; the brand pack adds < 15 KB regardless of source-image size.
Where the stub goes
A payslip isn't a private document. It's the artifact your employees hand to third parties to prove they exist, what they earn, and that they earn it consistently. Each recipient skims different regions — the studio defaults are tuned so each region survives that skim.
The bank's underwriter scans three things in order: net pay, employer name + registration, and the consistency of the last three months. If the regions are in the standard positions, the check completes the same business day.
Landlords and brokers want net pay relative to the proposed monthly rent (typically asking that rent ≤ 40% of net). They glance once at the net-pay band, once at the employer letterhead, and rarely deeper. The classic template makes both visible at a metre.
Embassy reviewers want a stripped, official-looking sheet — letterhead, parties, the gross-to-net breakdown, and a signed footer. The minimal template strips out the YTD column and the employer-contribution strip that often confuses non-Indian reviewers.
Overseas branches accept Indian payslips for income verification — they read the gross, the deductions, and the consistency of the period. The password-protected export is the standard ask; tax-residency proof gets flagged from the PAN field.
Institutions and lenders verify family income against caps for education-loan interest subsidies or scholarship eligibility. They read both the employee gross and the year-to-date column — the studio's classic template surfaces both without needing follow-up documents.
When an employee changes jobs, the new HR team asks for the last three months' stubs from the previous employer as part of background verification. The retrospective generation feature (any past month, in seconds) is built for this exact hand-off.

The PDF metadata stamps the studio version and the issue timestamp on every file. Pair that with the optional digital signature and password seal, and the file becomes verifiable — recipients can confirm the issue date, the document ID, and (when signed) the authorised signatory cryptographically. Most banks don't require this, but the option is there when they do.
