01 · Phases
Phase rules
Strict runs phases in order. Flexible allows skips and steps back where your rules say so. Open allows any move. Phases can be read-only, and a move can require a comment.

Approval steps
Choose the approver for each step, the order, and whether steps run one after another. Rules can require a minimum number of approvers, set roles and apply to chosen phases.

Give a step a time limit in hours, and decide whether it approves itself when time runs out.

What starts it
Rules start when a record is created, when its status changes or when its phase changes. The contract shows what's pending and who decides.

What's the difference between strict, flexible and open?
Strict runs phases in order. Flexible allows skips and steps back where your rules allow, optionally with a comment. Open allows any move, and every move is still recorded.
Can an approval time out?
Yes. Give a step a time limit in hours and choose whether it approves itself when time runs out.
Can one contract follow different rules?
Yes, through an exception: proposed with a reason, approved or rejected, and able to expire.
Is the workflow workspace available?
It's in beta and switched off in production. Phase rules and approval steps work from AlphaCore's settings.
