Why ledger tools lose the trail
Standalone GL and AP software is fine at accounts. It is weak at being one continuous finance stack your Materials buy chain and bank already trust — so close stays a reconciliation job.
AP as archaeology
Vendor invoices land as PDFs. Controllers rebuild three-way match from order, receipt, and email — because the buy chain never shared a spine with the ledger.
Close theater
Periods are a status in a wiki. Journals still post into “closed” months because the tool never refused them — close is process, not a gate.
Cash in three places
Bank portal, treasury spreadsheet, and GL cash account disagree every Monday. Payments clear in one system and reconcile in another.
Reports that rebuild the books
Trial balance and P&L live in a BI extract that drifts from postings. Auditors ask for the source — and the source is a midnight job.
Eleven capabilities. One ledger spine.
Everything in the Products mega-menu — Ledger, Working capital, Cash, Insight, and Evaluate — wired to the same accounts, permissions, and audit trail.

Compare axes and transparent tiers
Bill → payment → bank → report.
One continuous path from payable to statement. Controllers should never rebuild what operators already posted.
Bill
Capture payables with provenance
Vendor bills land as AP records. When Materials is in play, the bill still sees the PO and goods receipt — retention and withholding stay on the record.
- Vendor + lines + tax
- PO / GR match status
- Retention & TDS
- Approve → ready to pay

AP spotlight
Bills that still see the buy chain.
When Materials posts the receipt, Finance AP should not start from a PDF. Provenance travels with the bill — so match is a status, not archaeology.
- Bill opens with PO and goods-receipt context when Materials is live
- Match status controllers can act on — not a desk pile of PDFs
- Retention and withholding stay visible on the payable
- Approved bills feed payment runs without retyping amounts

Questions teams ask first.
Ledger, AP lineage, periods, and how Finance sits with Materials — the answers controllers usually need before a pilot.
Finance is Fyboard's general ledger and working-capital module. Chart of accounts, periods, journals, vendor bills, payments, receivables, treasury, bank, and reports are operational records — not a GL file beside an AP spreadsheet.
Vendor bills can carry PO and goods-receipt provenance from Materials when the buy chain is live — so AP still sees the order when the bill opens.
Years and monthly periods provision on first posting. OPEN periods accept journals and documents; CLOSED periods refuse them. Year-end close previews the move to retained earnings and posts a reversible journal.
Bank accounts and statement reconciliation sit beside treasury cash position — so liquidity and books converge without a nightly rebuild.
We price by capability — Starter for ledger, bills, and core payments; Growth for AR, treasury, bank, and Materials handoff; Enterprise for SSO and custom limits.
